ViteMeir will implement changes to its exhibition with the aim of improving inclusion and strengthening visitors’ sense of belonging, as well as increasing knowledge about the design of labels and instructions at ViteMeir. The changes involve removing text and introducing instructions in line with the EDGE principles developed by the science centre Exploratorium¹.

Vestlandsforskning has been engaged to assess visitors’ experiences at selected installations both before and after the changes are implemented, in order to document the effects of the measures.

Target group: lower secondary school pupils/classes in grades 8 and 9 (ages 12–14).

ViteMeir seeks knowledge about how the changes contribute to:

• making the installations more attractive – whether more visitors choose to try them

• gender balance among users

• changes in engagement with the installations after the modifications at ViteMeir

• whether visitors demonstrate an understanding of the knowledge or phenomena conveyed by the installations
